Pinhole detectors for aluminium separators

Thanks to the configuration of the CSM20D, with dual receivers in a single box and miniaturised laser transmitters, it is possible to install the system directly inside the separating machine. The pinhole detector is designed so that it can be integrated into all types of separator systems.

CSM20 Single Sheet System

The CSM20 is a high-performance opto-electronic system, based on laser technology, specifically designed for the detection of holes with a minimum diameter of 5 microns on non-transparent sheets at a maximum material speed of over 2000 metres per minute.

CSM10 Single sheet system

The CSM10 is an opto-electronic system designed for the detection of holes with diameters of 20 microns and above (15 micron as optional) on non-transparent slab/sheets, at an absolute speed of approximately 2000 metres per minute. It is planned for instantaneous “hole presence” signalling and equipped with a complex self-diagnostic system.

Roll Marker Detector 90 – RMD90

The EDS Roll Marker Detector is a high-performance opto-electronic device based on LASER technology. It is expressly designed and built for the detection of 3D defects and pinholes in moving steel, copper and aluminium webs used primarily for food and pharmaceutical packaging and a variety of food wrapping products even at high speeds (up to 2500 m/min).

CIS7040 container inspection system

The CIS7040 is an electronic system for the detection of micro holes on metal containers of any shape. Thanks to its small size, the system can be modularised into several parallel units and integrated directly into the production line.

CS5-350 weld hole detector

The CS5-350 is an opto- electronic detector, projected to identify the hole that marks a weld line on metal foil. The system is immune to ambient light and complies with all EMC standards.

Why invest in a PHD pinhole detector?

Control over the size, type and total number of micro holes produced during the product cycle.

Certainly, the target of this analysis is the pharmaceutical packaging sector. For instance, oxygen and intrusion of UV rays inside pill containers can significantly alter the chemical properties of the product. Hence, the need to monitor, map and guarantee the product through PHD analysis which identifies the size and position of each hole, sorting the defects by class and where deemed necessary by highlighting the presence of holes directly on the product. LED or Laser technology is also used in food packaging, increasing the precision of hole detection with a minimum diameter of 5 microns. An example would definitely be the detection of micro holes on membranes for containing powdered milk for babies: on this type of product maximum precision and accuracy in terms of quality is required.

Production process monitoring. In the case of aluminium foil, as well as steel, copper, brass and polymer foil, PHD analysis is always performed on individual sheets examining and visualising the distribution of defects in real time, but…how can hole mapping help? The origin of micro holes occurs long before they are identified by being dragged in the entire production process, generating extra costs that cannot be perfectly evaluated. PHD allows a systematic and intensive evaluation process which permits to go backwards through the process and recognize the main causes and concauses in the formation of defects. To give some examples, the use of unsuitable castings, exhausted oil filters, dust or mechanical damage on imperfectly ground rollers. All this information is a prerequisite to improve production processes.
