About us

The company, founded in August 1984, immediately established itself on the national market thanks to its high technical competence in hardware and software development for microprocessor-based electronic control boards. Important corporate partnerships such as 3M Italia, Imation and Ferrania technologies gave the company further impetus for the development of technologies oriented towards the surface inspection of medical plates. Years of research and prototyping led to the creation of an electronic system for high-speed surface inspection: the IR.I.S. (Infrared Inspection System). The system consisted of three fundamental blocks: an optical scanning head, dedicated electronics and a computerised system.

The initial pivotal idea of E.D.S. was to fully develop and control all three fundamental blocks of the product, this was also achieved through the selection of a highly qualified team and long-standing collaborations with universities and specialised companies.

From the success of IR.I.S. to Pinhole Detector

Thanks to the far-sightedness of the managerial directors and the market outlook, a process of fusion between automation and optoelectronic fields began, focusing the company’s core business toward process control solution for the growing and diverse industrial realities.

Even in a crucial and emerging sector such as the one of optical inspection, the company did not stand still and attempted to diversify its product by constantly adapting it to the different demands of the customers. In the early 1990s, a change of course and new technologies gave the necessary impetus for the realisation of the first single-sheet micro-hole detection systems; subsequently, a further important step for the company dictated by the trust gained through our customers, was the installation of pinhole detectors also on aluminium foil separating machines. Having acquired and consolidated the technology of micro-hole detection, E.D.S. strengthens the presence of automatic inspection systems also in can inspection; the CIS7040 is a product with small dimensions to allow modularity in the process lines, it adopts LED technology (monochromatic emission) and ensures high in-line performance.

E.D.S. continually renews the challenge on the global market, presenting itself with a qualified Team and important partnerships in the field of research with the University of Genoa, physics and chemistry departments; in the field of know-how with targeted engineering studies and on the international market with dominant companies in the aluminium and plastic film sector.
